Orffa is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof Antonio Gilberto Bertechini to its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).

Few areas of animal nutrition carry as much technical weight, and as much commercial consequence, as mineral nutrition.
Trace minerals such as selenium, zinc, copper, and manganese shape everything from immune competence and oxidative status to skeletal integrity and product quality.
Getting mineral strategy right is one of the clearest levers producers have for better performance, efficiency, and sustainability, which is exactly why Orffa keeps investing in the science behind it.
Orffa is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof Antonio Gilberto Bertechini to its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), reinforcing the company’s scientific leadership in Mineral Nutrition, one of Orffa’s strategic Feed Solution Areas.
Prof Bertechini is internationally recognized as one of Latin America’s leading authorities in animal nutrition, with particular expertise in mineral nutrition, feed additives, and precision feeding strategies for poultry and swine.
He is Full Professor of Monogastric Nutrition at the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA), Brazil, and a long-standing researcher of the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), with published work spanning vitamin and mineral metabolism, feed additive application, nutrient bioavailability, and technologies that improve feed efficiency and animal performance.
Prof Bertechini has built this expertise over decades: undergraduate studies at UFLA, postgraduate training at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), and postdoctoral research at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
Along the way, he has developed scientific and industry collaborations spanning Latin America, North America, Europe, and Asia, earning him a reputation as one of the most respected voices in global animal nutrition.
“Mineral nutrition sits at the intersection of fundamental science and everyday commercial reality,” said Arno van der Aa, Director Marketing & Innovation of Orffa.
“Prof Bertechini has spent his career bridging that gap connecting mineral physiology to real feeding strategies that work in the field. We’re proud to welcome him to our Scientific Advisory Board and look forward to what his expertise will bring to our customers.”
On the Board, Prof Bertechini will bring a distinctly practical lens to Orffa’s mineral nutrition research grounding scientific direction in what moves the needle for producers, from trace mineral bioavailability to product quality and animal health.
