Paraguay has expanded its pork export market by completing its first shipment of pork to the Philippines, as reported by Infopork.
The shipment was not only opening of a new export market for the country’s pig industry, but also reinforcing the country’s position as a supplier of animal protein in Asia.
The shipment, managed by the National Service for Animal Health and Quality (Senacsa), consisted of 27,002 kg net weight, or around 28,010 kg gross weight, of bone-in baby ribs.
Senacsa highlighted that the export demonstrated the country’s capacity to supply international markets with products that meet the highest health and safety standards.
Also, it added that the export reflected the coordinated efforts between the public and private sectors to access new markets.
The initial projection is to ship one container per month, with the possibility of increasing export volumes as trade relations between the two countries strengthen.
According to official data, between January and the present day, Paraguay exported 8,721,651.53 kg of pork products and byproducts, with an FOB value of USD 25.54 million.
These figures demonstrate the consolidation of the pig industry, driven by improvements in production processes, strengthened sanitary controls, and greater competitiveness of the national pig industry.
