Russia ramps up pork exports to China by 60% in 2025

Russia’s pork exports to China surged by 60% to USD 86.5 million in 2025 from USD 53.3 million in 2024, according to a report by China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC).

This sharp increase placed Russia among the top 10 suppliers of pork products to China by export revenue.

China’s leading suppliers

China imported pork products from 17 countries last year, including:

Russian pork exports to China slumped to USD 4.8 million in December from USD 5.1 million a year earlier. They peaked in July at USD 12.4 million.

Russian pork first entered the Chinese market in April 2024. The National Union of Pig Breeders reported that Russia exported 40,000 tons of pork products to China last year. Exports in the first half of 2025 totaled 43,000 tons.

Exporters and market access

Three Russian companies currently have the right to export pork to China, including:

Miratorg was the first to enter the market. Applications from seven additional companies are under review by Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia’s plant and animal health watchdog, signaling potential expansion of supply capacity.
