Russia seeks to expand pork exports to the Philippines

Russia is pursuing expanded access for its meat exports to the Philippines, with particular focus on pork and poultry.

Russia’s Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Alexey Gruzdev expressed optimism about resolving market access issues that will allow Russian pork producers to export to the Philippines. He shared this during a recent meeting of the joint Russian-Philippine commission on trade and economic cooperation.

The move is part of a broader strategy to increase the presence of Russian meat products in the Philippines. Mr Gruzdev emphasized that Russia is working to open new channels for its products in the country and Southeast Asia, reflecting a shift toward diversifying trade partnerships.

He also confirmed that the first shipments of Russian poultry meat taken place, marking a tangible step forward in bilateral food trade.

Brazil emerged as the top source, shipping 91,202 tons or 36% of the total. Spain followed with 52,998 tons (22%) and the Netherlands with 23,274 tons (9%). Other major sources included Canada (20,622 tons) and the US (14,035 tons).
