UK pork exporters launched a trade mission to Vietnam, promoting high quality products and building long term partnerships with local importers.

UK pig meat exporters are intensifying efforts to enter Vietnam’s growing meat market, highlighting British pork’s quality, safety, and animal welfare standards. The mission builds on recent trade agreements and Vietnam’s rising demand for premium food products.
A delegation of leading UK pork producers visited Vietnam from September 23–25, 2025. Organized by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), the mission was supported by the British Consulate‑General and the British Chambers of Commerce in Vietnam.
The group included GPS Food Group Ltd, Norwest Foods International Ltd, and Dunbia. Their participation underscores the UK’s ambition to expand its agricultural footprint in Southeast Asia.
The mission followed the Export Health Certificate agreement signed in November 2022, which opened the door for UK pork exports to Vietnam. Since then, interest from both exporters and importers has grown steadily.
In Hanoi, the delegation engaged with the Department for Animal Health and Livestock Production. In Ho Chi Minh City, a seminar at the Caravelle Hotel showcased British pork’s unique selling points, including traceability and flexible packaging solutions.
Vietnam’s dynamic food industry is increasingly receptive to high‑quality imports. Known for rigorous standards and transparency, British pork can meet the needs of discerning consumers.
Exports of pig meat to Vietnam remain modest—just over USD 86,000 in the first half of 2025—but industry leaders expect significant growth. AHDB’s Susan Stewart noted that pork exports add around USD 70 per head to UK producers, underscoring the importance of market diversification.
Vietnam’s appetite for offal is particularly attractive. Developing markets for products less popular domestically helps UK farmers balance the carcass and maximize value.
The UK’s accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans‑Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) in December 2024 further boosts prospects. Tariff reductions and streamlined customs procedures are expected to make British pork more competitive in Vietnam.
UK food and drink exports to Vietnam surged 97% between 2020 and 2023, reaching USD 154 million. With CPTPP benefits, Vietnamese importers can access a wider range of UK products at lower costs.
The trade mission reflects a broader strategy to deepen UK‑Vietnam economic ties. By combining high production standards with favorable trade frameworks, British pork exporters aim to secure a lasting presence in Vietnam’s market.
Vietnamese consumers, increasingly focused on food safety and quality, stand to benefit from greater access to trusted international products. For UK producers, Vietnam offers a gateway to Southeast Asia’s expanding food sector.
