At the 37th anniversary of the Philippine Association of Meat Processors Inc in Cebu City, Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr emphasized that government programs alone cannot rebuild the livestock sector. He pointed to recurring outbreaks of African swine fever and avian influenza, rising production costs, and climate risks as persistent threats requiring joint action.

Tiu Laurel praised meat processors for sustaining production and protecting livelihoods despite these challenges. Their ability to transform livestock into affordable, safe products has helped stabilize supply and shield consumers from price shocks.
