Cambodia’s Preah Sihanouk province welcomes Chinese agribusiness investment, leveraging logistics advantages to expand livestock and food processing industries.

Da Guang Food Group Co Ltd, a major Chinese agribusiness, announced plans to establish a livestock and food processing hub in Cambodia’s Preah Sihanouk province, reported the Khmer Times. The company, which operates across five provinces in China, specializes in pig breeding, animal feed production, and meat processing.
CEO Zhan Shengxun stated that Cambodia is a priority destination under the group’s 2026–2030 international strategy. The company intends to introduce high-quality livestock, including pigs, poultry, and eggs, into the Cambodian market.
Preah Sihanouk Deputy Governor Mang Sineth welcomed the investment, emphasizing the province’s transformation into a Model Multi-Purpose Special Economic Zone. The provincial master plan divides the region into four strategic zones: industrial and logistics, integrated urban center, nature tourism, and agriculture and aquaculture.
Mr Sineth highlighted the province’s logistics advantages, describing them as a “trifecta” of land, sea, and air transport. The Sihanoukville Autonomous Port already handles 70% of Cambodia’s cargo. Expansion plans will deepen the port to 17.5 meters by 2030, enabling docking of world-class vessels.
The international airport’s 3300-meter runway supports large aircraft, with four direct flight paths already established with China. Connectivity is further strengthened by National Roads 3 and 4, a modern expressway, and a revitalized railway network.
Officials noted that the project will create new employment opportunities for local residents. Training programs are expected to strengthen skills in animal husbandry, feed production, and food processing.
The investment also aims to support Cambodia’s broader agricultural supply chain, linking farmers with modern facilities and expanding market access.
Governor Sineth pledged full support for Da Guang Food Group’s technical requirements and environmental compliance. He stressed that “the success of our investors is the success of the provincial administration.”
The investment represents a significant step in Cambodia’s efforts to modernize its agricultural sector. By attracting foreign direct investment and advanced technology transfer, the province aims to strengthen food production capacity and enhance regional competitiveness.
